MPEG Streamclip and FCPX NO PRORES CODECS showing in streamclip
on Mar 11, 2015 at 1:56:36 am

So I am working on my MBPro and trying to convert my mp4 gopro footage to prores for FCPX in MPEG Streamclip but I do not have the prores 422 codecs, not a one!!!

I have FCPX and Compressor installed as well as downloading the ProRes Codecs directly from apple support to my machine. I have now uninstalled and reinstalled Mpeg Streamclip like 5 times with fresh boots in between and still it does not show up....

Can anyone give me advice I am working with MP4's off my gopro and it seems to be the best option

Cheers
Chris

Why not just import the Go-Pro footage into FCP X and let it optimize? That works for me. I have used MPEG Streamclip quite a bit in the past but I don't think it's been updated in a while and I haven't used it in over a year.

anickt

I usually work on my desktop...so Ive just used stream clip. I feel like in the past when I would import direct to FC, that it would continually drop frames, Maybe now with the updates to FCPX it will work smoother.

I'll give it a go but would still love to hear from anyone this might have happened to

That's why you optimize. It's built in transcoding to ProRes. I don't think I've used streamclip in years. All I ever used it for was ripping DVDs even then.

Mpeg Stream Clip allows ProRes here - no problem.
