Error -36 when trying to backup a FCPX library
on Nov 21, 2014 at 1:02:05 pm

Hi,

I have a serious problem backing up my rather large (ca. 550 GB) FCPX library file. I usually copy the whole file over to another drive over night. But this suddenly stopped working without adding any external media files to the library. I was just syncing audio and video. Now while copying the finder stops the process at about 90 percent and says, that some files could not be read or written (Error: -36). Sometimes the mac even crashes and reboots.

My setup:

Mac Pro 2013 / Yosemite / FCPX 10.1.3
source drive: WD MyPassport Pro Raid (Thunderbolt)
destination drives tested: WD MyPassport (USB3), Pegasus R4 (Thunderbolt)

Any ideas?

Klaus

Full disks?

Corrupt cache?

No, unfortunately not. I solved the problem by copying the events to a new library in fcpx. Not the most beautiful solution, but it works...

Sure does. It also clears that cache pretty well.

Nice work.
