Interpolating frames with speed <100%

Can anyone tell me if FCPX is able to somehow interpolate frames if you set speed to a custom value below 100%, so that your footage doesn't 'stutter'?

In the speed pulldown choose optical flow. It's magic.

It is magic but has limitations. It works very well with fixed shots with a moving object inside.

It doesn't work very well with zoomed shots or moving shots : those tend to create jelly-like morphing of parts of the picture.

It would be nice to have adjustments to fiddle with but it is an all or nothing mode, for now.

I guess it depends on your footage. I just tried it on some concert footage from 1993 where the camera was moving and zooming at the same time, while of course the band was moving. Except for some analog noise at the top giving optical flow the fits, it was super smooth & amazing. I just zoomed in a bit to crop out the noise along the top edge. By contrast, I flipped over to frame blending mode, and it was stutter city by comparison.
