I have a secondary storyline that contains a bunch of clips interspersed with freeze frames. When I try to change the role of one or more of these clips, every clip in the secondary storyline gets changed to that role. Why?
[Charlie Austin]"I realize this doesn't help, but I'm not seeing that here, just tried it."
It's a compound clip in the secondary storyline. The freeze frames are based off the compound. Maybe that has something to do with it. I just tested it again; change the role of one clip and they all change.
[Jason Jenkins]"It's a compound clip in the secondary storyline."
That's probably why. change any instance of a compound clip, and it changes every instance of the compound clip. Try selecting the bit you'd like to change Roles on, and choose "Reference new parent clip" from the Clip menu before changing the Role. As an aside, be careful with compound clips. ;-)
[Jason Jenkins]"Interestingly, the freeze frames created from the compound act in exactly the same way as the compound. They are labeled as still images, but they must be referencing the compound."
Makes sense actually, assuming you're using the "Add freeze frame" command as it's still using the source (a CC) to generate it. If you select the freeze frame is the "reference new parent" command available? If so you could do that. Or try using "save current frame" from the share destinations, and drag it back into the Library after it's saved. that should do it.
