And more importantly how do I stop this behavior? I thought "libraries" eliminated the need for event manager. When I click on a library I'm getting the past 3 or so that I opened before it. This is not good.

[David Powell] "And more importantly how do I stop this behavior?"

Hold down the OPTION key when you open FCP X. You can then choose whatever Event you'd like to open. Also, CNTRL/right click on the FCP icon in the dock will show a list of recent Libraries from which you can choose...

Cool I'll try that. I was hoping that clicking on a library to open fcp would keep all the other projects from showing. Especially when a client's behind me.

Yeah, that'll open what you clicked plus whatever else was last opened. OPT/RIGHT click is the way to go for that situation... Or just close everything except one innocuous project before you quit X. :-)

Not an innocuous one. An impressive one. Star Wars pt VII Trailer or something.

I find library manager great for this purpose.
Not only does it let you see all your libraries in one place instead of digging around in the finder, but you can delete render and optimised media files in any library or just right click whichever one and chose open alone, which does exactly what you need.
