Copy event - _AsyncCopying - doubles size of library?

What is the "_AsyncCopying" folder in the library while doing a copy event to library? Does it really double the size of the library while copying? And if so why does it need to?

Secondly, based on this doubling of library size during the copying of events (and limits of my portable hard drive size), can I copy a library package at the finder level as an alternative to copying from within FCPX?

Is there a good summary of all the new 10.1 library dos and donts?

As far as I can tell, the files are hard links - which means they don't double the size. So I'd recommend not deleting the folder. I'm not sure of its purpose and was curious about this, too. Anyone else know?

It is only temporarily filled while "copying event to library."
