Safe to Upgrade to Mavericks?
on Mar 16, 2014 at 5:46:15 pm

In my reading, I've found that there are recurring rendering issues in 10.0.8. I am in the midst of a project that has about 40, 20 minute videos. Do you think it's safe to upgrade to Mavericks and FCPX 10.1.1?

Mavericks AND FCPX 10.1 are two major updates, not one so I wouldn't update until the project was finished. However I'd probably risk upgrading to 10.0.9.

Agreed. You'd probably be ok going all the way, but it cane confusing. Best to wait 'til you have time to take your time/ 10.0.9? definitely. Just keep backups of material, an a zipped copy of your current FCP X version just in case. :-)

Thanks guys. How do I update to 10.0.9? It doesn't show up as an update in the App Store for me. There's an install button…but when I click it, I get this message…

Cool, the store can be a little weird sometimes. Even more fun if you've hidden a purchase and need to see it again. :-/ Glad you got it going, and hopefully it'll help. :-)

I would clone the older system. And the old FC folders. Load the new system and see if it works. I found it was much improved and opened the old projects fine. But I would not count on it not having problems. This way you can go home again.
