Motion 4 hangs and I must use Force Quit

Motion 4 hangs and I must use Force Quit

Today I bought Motion 4, I upgraded to Maverick and when I try to bring in a file to export it just freezes and says it's Not Responding so I have to force quit. I think I read somewhere that there can be extensions or some previous versions of QT or Flip4Mac that if on my computer will interfere with Motion 4? Any advice will be appreciated.

I just bought Motion 4, isn't that the latest? I went to the Apple Store and that was the only Motion there was.

Did you have FCS3 with Motion 4 installed as well?

Jeremy! I'm sorry! I had a typo. I meant to say COMPRESSOR in the subject line. I also bought Motion but haven't opened it. So sorry. That's why I had 4.

Try Compressor repair from Digital Rebellion.

Craig S says that he has had some trouble with Compressor, but I have had real good luck with it.

Did you have fcs3 on this machine?

Not sure what you mean by clean install. I did a restart, followed the onscreen prompts.

Clean, meaning wipe the drive an start over instead of upgrading your Mountain Lion install.

At the very least, I'd make a new admin user and see if Compressor will launch.

A clean install of Mavericks is the best way to ensure that everything is going to work well.

Depending on how you have things stored, It can also a pain in the ass. On the flip side, it can also be very easy.

Read this before trying a clean install. It will teach you how to make a new user for troubleshooting purposes.

OK, I'll bring in an hourly Apple pro to do it. I suppose I have to find every serial number of whatever I have bought and downloaded? Or, could I do a Time Machine back up and it all re-install? When I did a Time Machine re-install on my laptop the only issues I had were with MS software like Word, Excel.

P.S. Why didn't Apple suggest this "clean install" when I purchased it? Or perhaps it's my aversion to reading manuals?

Yes, unfortunately. All AppStore purchases, you will just redownload.

Beofre you do this, you should setup a new user account (outlined in that doc). It's non destructive and you may find out that you won't need to reinstall.
