Best camera (not DSLR) 15K or under?

Favorite camera for FCP / FCPX? Which have the best low light settings? I just read several reviews on Canon, Panasonic, and JVC and on almost all of them people were unhappy with the low light settings. I've read so many reviews now it seems no camera is good enough that's under 1500 dollars. I've read a lot of good things about different Sony cameras at that price range on BH. But does SONY have a codec that works easy with FCP/FCPX? Sony is XDCAM right? So it would work with FCPX seemlessly?

Editing programs really have nothing to do with the camera. Red offers low priced cameras, but lenses and add ons will put you over. Red and Alexa are most widely used indie cameras though. I love Resolve, absolutely adore it, but I'd avoid the camera for now.

+1 on the C300. I got to use one for a day and really wish I had the disposable cash :).

How about the C100 with the Atomos Ninja so that you can get 4:2:2 output for a lot less than the C300?

The subject says 15k. The post says $1500.

Which one?

And he mentions DSLR, which falls into the $1500 territory. I'd guess $1500.

Under 15K - C300 rocks, but you need lenses and shotgun which might blow your budget. C100 is a good option for much cheaper. I'd consider the Sony's new line - PMW-100, 200 or 300. Not as good in low light, but not bad.

For under $1500, you're looking at DSLRs. I'd probably go with the Panasonic GH3. Not great at low light, but respectable picture. It actually has a headphone jack which is critical.

FS700 is very nice, particularly, if you want high frame rate capability. There are a couple of external recorders that will record ProRes as well as 2K. To record 4K you need the HXR-IFR5 Interface Unit and AXS-R5 4K/2K RAW Recorder. That adds around $7500 to the price.
