Select the clip

Use the "." To nudge forward, use the "," to nudge backward.

Doesn't this just move the clip? I believe the question is about nudging the range selected?

In that case I would select the clip. Hold the option key and drag out one frame ata time on either end.

but i want to nudge one frame at a time - dragging is less accurate.

Also found this great apple doc.

Basically, you are either nudging (moving an entire clip) or trimming (changing the duration of a clip buy one or more frames)

I think the OP might be asking for a Nudge/trim feature. :)

In the Timeline-
Use up/down arrows to jump to the desired edit point, select the edge of the clip you want to trim with left/right bracket, nudge the selected edit point with period/comma.

Is that what you're looking for?

I realized you must be referring to nudging the I/O point of a range selection, I was referring to nudging the ends of an actual clip.

[James Ewart] "nudge in and out points a frame at a time in browser"

In the browser, use the left/right arrow (cursor) keys to move forward or backward 1 frame at a time. Park on the desired frame and hit I or O again for a new in/out mark.

Got it thanks - shift I takes me to in point and then arrow and then hit I again. Bit boring having two steps

That's the same way in most NLEs.

I've never seen that feature in an NLE, but sounds like a good one.

Perhaps I'm having a senior hallucination moment. I'm sure I could do this. Obviously mistaken. Must be mistaken. Been back and double checked. I am totally mistaken. Weird. How often do you need to nudge a marker left and right one frame? Maybe I'm getting muddled up with this.
