Extracting CC file from QT and edit in FCPX or DVDSP?
on Jul 30, 2013 at 8:22:14 pm

I have a ProRes QT file that was encoded for me from the original HDCAM tape. I am editing the ProRes file in FCPX (removing sections of the film).

I want to export the final product on SD DVD and include the CC. The ProRes file appears to have a CC file. Is there a way I can remove sections of the CC too?

At the very least, can I get the CC into DVDSP where I could edit it?

We use AnnotationEdit for any type of CC extraction and subtitle creation.

You can extract CC from QT movies and many other formats, then you can export the subtitles with their corresponding time codes to a large variety of formats including DVDSP STL for DVDSP and since the latest update also to FCPXML for FCPX.

Have a look at the different videos on their website explaining how the tool works. It does have a 245 Euro price tag but it is by far the most professional tool for such jobs. You can always download a demo version.
