Strange Problem Exporting-Need Ideas

I'm trying to export a Compound Clip and keep getting an error: "This item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera." This media often appears offline when I open the Event. If I Cmd-I and select the MXF folder which contains the media it reconnects and plays fine, but still no love when trying to export. Any ideas would be most appreciated? BTW, I started this edit on my MBP, but am using the same version of FCPX 10.0.8.

Hi
Easiest way for me is:
Choose the event(s) or specific files and "Reimport from Camers/archive..."
(FILE->IMPORT-» sub menu)
FCP archives or diskImages must be available or mounted,
a long process but it usually solves the problem,

all the best

Still Need Ideas Re: Strange Problem Exporting-Need Ideas

Still no luck. The files are on the drive. When importing I can see all of them and play all of them. When I open the P2 folder in Media Import all clips "come alive" in FCPX, but it still does not export them. I get the same error message as before. The one strange thing is the clips in the Event are in a "No Data" folder. I don't know what that is. I've never seen it before. Other clips from this card archive imported fine and work (and export as expected). When I highlight a missing (red) clip and try to relink, no clip appears in the Relink Files dialog box. I've tried to delete then re-import the errant files, but they just appear in No Data and still won't export.

I am baffled.

I'm getting the same error message, "This item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera." I have seen this in the past but there were red frames associated with this. Now the project and event files look okay, but it refuses to let me export and won't provide any additional info to diagnose the problem. I'm up for any suggestions...

I started a second event, importred the same media and everything worked as expected. Something must have been corrupted in the first event. I'd love to know what was wrong.

I had this issue a few days ago. Simply re-importing didn't work, everytime I opened FCP the footage was offline again.

I deleted the clips from the events, ignoring the warning that these clips are in use. Then I reimported again, sofar that event hasn't given me any more problems.

Yesterday I duplicated a small event that had some offline compounds. The new event is online.

I found a workaround.. although you may not like it (you will likely have to start from scratch!)

- Delete all the events files, FCPx will require you to delete multicam clips, and the entire timeline

- FCPx allows you to drag a file from Finder directly into the timeline!

- Import a single file (I used the audio file, no issues there) to create an event.

- Create a project using the new event.

- Select all media in a Finder window to be used for the project, and drag the bulk selection into the timeline.

All the files are now in the events folder, imported correctly, and you can proceed to recreate the project.

Manually proxy and transcode as you wish.

Good luck!
