Shortcut for "Done" button
on Apr 26, 2013 at 9:57:08 pm

Hello Cowheads!

I am really learning to love FCPX. And I love to use shortcut keys so I keep my hand on the keyboard.
I recently learned that using Shift + T activates the Transform function and that Shift + C activates the Crop function. Very nice!

Anyone know a shortcut for the Done button?

FYI, my favorite shortcut key is OPTION + [ and OPTION + ] to cut my clip. So fast!
Thanks for any help.

Unfortunately I don't believe there is one. However, since the transform, crop and distort controls are in fact mouse driven, it sorta makes sense that you would need the mouse to click done.

However, I would encourage you to fill out a feedback enhancement request. As many folks have attested to on this forum, the Final Cut Team reads each and every one of those.

Maybe I'm not understanding correctly. You just press A to go back to regular arrow tool. Or any other tool. The crop, transform and distort modes are really just tools like in FCP 7. They're just in different locations in the interface. That's how I read it. For example, in legacy, you press c for the crop tool. To get out of it, you press A for the arrow tool. Pretty much functions same in X. Just press shift+C, then A.

Hey Bret,

Your answer was spot on. Selecting "A" when done transforming is the same as clicking on the "Done" button.

Thanks!

[T. Payton] "Unfortunately I don't believe there is one"

I stand corrected, The A key does it. Thanks Bret.

Actually looks like switching to any main tool, or just pressing any tool keyboard shortcut does it.

Bret - I am guilty of reading your post to quickly. You were right, I was wrong. Words cannot express how right you were and how wrong I was.

I deserve to be repeatedly struck by a wet noodle.
