Import from Avid

Hi everyone,

here's one that may not be doable with fcpx, yet:

We have production companies delivering edited pieces that we include in a complete program. Some of these houses work on Avid, some on FCP7.

We are still on FCP7 but are thinking of moving to X.

Problem:

the FCP7 pieces are delivered as mxf video (ok in fcp7 with the mxf plugin) and the audio gets to us as omf imported via automatic duck.

In the case of the Avid pieces we receive .mov for video and aaf sequences for the audio, imported with the duck as well.

In both cases this enables us to put the original audio cut in our complete program and we send this complete audio to our audio guy as omf.

The nice thing is that everything retains sync, even if we decide to shorten the top or end of a piece for transition or remove one bit because of timing.

Thinking of how I would go about it with FCPX leaves me stumped: the video is easy as mxf works well on fcpx with the Hambourg Pro Media mxf suite.

It is audio that I don't have a solution for.

any takers ?

thanks in advance,

Patrice
