X to 7 with red raw footage reconnect
on Feb 10, 2013 at 6:57:11 pm

Situation: Working with Red 4K (scarlet). Started editing a feature film in FCPX. Half the movie was transcoded using red ciniX and then brought into X. the other half was transcoded directly within FCPX.

We are moving the project to FCP7 and wanting to confirm that the
Red raw footage transcoded directly in FCPX will reconnect to the original 4K files when we go to make the final output from FCP7.

Or do we need to retranscode the red raw FCPX files in RedciniX to bring in to FCP7 to work and out put wiht?

Thank you,
Megan

How are you moving the project to 7 exactly?

[megan waters] "I am using a application called Xto7."

And did everything come over correctly through Xto7?

the files that were exported out of FCPX that were originally trans coded in FCPX were exported as events as XMLs. Effect, fades, transitions did not export nor did graphics. the question is will it relink to the master 4k files?

Not directly in 7. You can send an XML to RCX to relink to the r3d raw as fcp7 doesn't handle r3d raw very well at all.

I would try it right now before going forward.

Put a bunch of clips in an fcp7, and export an XML and open it in RCX.

Are they all there?

Jeremy
