Past insert - dupe detection - is clip used

Has anyone found solutions to these or am I missing something?

1. Past insert. The closest I've found is a two-step workaround. Paste as connected clip and then drag into the primary storyline. Any more direct way?

2. Dupe detection - some indication on the project timeline when you are repeating footage. Timeline index, I suppose, but anything better?

3. Is clip used - Intelligent Assistance has an app for this in FCP 7. Does X have a method of showing in the event, whether a clip or portion of a clip has been cut into the project?

I'm pretty sure these aren't in X yet, but I want to make sure I'm not overlooking something. Thanks.

Copy and Paste that inserts the clip at the playhead.

You are right. For some reason it appeared to overwrite instead of insert when I used it last. Might be affected by the Position tool. I'll have to test. Thanks.

I've seen this to but I haven't use X enough to know when and how it sometimes overwrites.

FCP always had a way to find used clips. Highlight the seq, cmd+f, choose find used clips. From there you can label them any color and all instances will be labeled that color. However it doesn't keep up as the edit progresses of course, but very useful nonetheless. There isn't any simple way to mark clips in a bin as used or dupe detection that I've found. Hopefully they'll add those features right after transitions that will start or end on edit.

I'm not sure I follow your procedure for dupe detection??? Is it a way of revealing all used clips in the event? How do I colour code??
Confused!
