Transfer your Scaffolds to another Construct?
on Nov 19, 2011 at 11:53:02 pm

Hi all,
I graded a 6 min film last week (about 90 shots). most have primaries & Scaffolds on each shot. The source was a 1920 x 1080 res.
I just received the same film in 4k res.

I took my 1920 res construct and did EXPORT EDL
I then IMPORTED that EDL to the 4K film.
Now although all of my shots are perfectly lined up, I do not have any scaffold or grades on any shots.

Does anyone know if Scratch 6 can transfer all secondaries & primaries grades to another construct?
Thanks,

I'm not in front of the box right now, but I would try to
make a copy of the 1920res construct, quit Scratch, move the 1920-files (or rename the containing folder).
And on next startup change the Media-Directory of the project to the folder containing the 4k-Files.
Then take the copied 1920res construct und try to relink (via Media-Browser ==> Files) to the 4k Files.
Depending on the Metadata saved in the 1920-proxies, this could actually work^^.

What might be even better (found it on the support-site):

PASTE GRADE

This button will start a matching process between all the selected shots on the current CONstruct and all the shots in the copy buffer.

Note: If no shots are selected, SCRATCH will include all the shots on the current CONstruct in the matching process.

If SCRATCH determines a match, it will copy all the grade and framing from the shot in the copy-buffer to the shot on the CONstruct. This function is useful when you have a fully graded timeline and do a different conform / second version with the same clips on another CONstruct. You can copy all shots on the first CONstruct, navigate to the new CONstruct and then Paste Grade the new timeline.

The matching process tries to find the best match between a shot on the CONstruct and all the shots in the copy buffers, based on the amount of overlap calculated from the time-code of the shots and its in- and out-points. The out-point used is the lower of the out-point of the shot (which, if not explicitly set, is its length) or the length of the Slot in which the shot resides. Only when the amount of overlap is exactly the same for multiple shots, SCRATCH includes the name and reel-ID of the shots into the comparison.

HI,
Thanks you sooo much!
I've been using Scratch for 1 year andI never saw the PASTE GRADE on the construct. I think my brain just ignored that button.
You savedme A LOT of time.

Also, What support site? From Assimilate?
The only think I see in there is download stuff, builds, manuals, etc..

Thanks Again,

Yes, official Support-Site from Assimilate:

http://www.assimilatesupport.com/akb/default.aspx

I think, the Paste-Grade thing was in the Scratch 6 Manual under "Construct".
If you're working often with Scratch, you should register there, if you aren't already ;-) .
Big advantage of the Online-Manual is, that it's updated from time to time with new released Builds.

Kinda related here,

What's the best way to transfer an entire Construct, in this case a stereo construct with notes on many clips, into another Scratch project?

Thanks,

Josh

In Construct:
Go to Commands-menu on the left, then select export Construct,
import it back again into other project^^.

Well...export it and load it back in the new project.
