High saturation spots not responding to vectors / curves
on Sep 13, 2012 at 1:58:39 pm

Hi folks,

I have been using Scratch to color grade all kinds of stuff since 2008, but just recently we have upgraded to Version 6, and since then I am kind of confused by the behaviour of the vectors and hue-sat curves.

My problem is that quite frequently when I try to do some secondary correction (like desaturating the reds or yellows), the highest saturated spots remain unaffected by the controls. Even if I try to dial the vectors to that tone, like opening their width or moving the vector's center, niothing seems to work. And the same happens to the hue-sat curve: I can make the image black and white by turning all the hues curves down, but just some higher saturation spots (usually red or yellow) remains unaffected.

I am missing something here? I am sure this used to work in the previous versions.

Best,

Pedro

I believe this is a bug occurring with out-of-gamut colors,
which has already been reported.
Best workaround currently is to use keyers^^

Hope this helps,
Mazze
