Multichannel audio in FCPX?
on Jan 6, 2015 at 4:05:42 pm

I have a single camera shoot with 1-5 channels of separate mono wav files. I lined them up in PE by a source (Cam, Boom, Lavs...). Sync is succesful.

Now, can PE export merged clips with 1 Video and multi audio tracks to FCPX?

All I am able to do for now is

1) multicam clip with 1 V and multi A channels (all in a single timeline - unwieldy)
2) synced timeline with V and A tracks lined up, but not connected with FCPX "magnetic" links
3) replaced clips, but with a single Audio channel only

I would like merged clips with 1 V and corresponding A channels. This way would retain timecodes, properly synced audio sources and clip separation.

Is there a way to do this?

Since you don't have multiple video angles, you probably don't need a multicam clip.

Exporting to FCPX as in your case 2) should be the best option.Try lowering the embedded audio in the video clip manually. In the timeline, drag the audio line for the video clip it down to 0. Then balance the remaining audio tracks in place (since they are synced already). Finally export the project to your final destination settings, and all the audio will be embedded (ie replacing the original camera audio)
