I want to know who ducks audio AFTER they edit scenes? I mean, I duck it as I edit. I can't edit with music up full the whole time

[Shane Ross] "I want to know who ducks audio AFTER they edit scenes?"

Good point, and this new feature doesn't automatically do it as you edit. But you could just set your audio a little lower than normal for your first pass rather than duck as you go, then run Audio Ducking and it will generate all the keyframes you need. After that you just go through and adjust to taste. I've been playing with it a bit today, and it's a neat little feature.

I played with it during the beta. And it was cool, but I still didn't see the point. I don't know people who edit like that. I guess there are some that cut scenes, then drop in music and THEN duck it. Dunno

I'll usually edit a scene w/o music first (assuming a specific track hasn't been picked out yet), then drop the music in at a 'medium' volume so I can hear it while still being able to understand the dialog, then adjust timing where needed, then bring the music up and duck it. I hate having to adjust the ducks if I'm still solidifying the cut so ducking is last for me.

But Tim, where else can we discuss ducking with a group of our peers?

Either way, some usefull stuff in there.. nested audio FX - audio grouping, GPU assisted R3D.

Avid has been developing at a great pace lately. Looking fwd to the future.

Charlie, your posts always cheer me up as an X editor in a sea of PP advocates. But we can only declare it a cat video, when it hits a million views on Youtube.

Claude,

Just remind them that for all but the lucky ones who saw it on stage "The Lion King" was basically a "cat video" - and IT did pretty well globally.
