Apple has just released the latest update to Yosemite, OS X 10.10.3, which includes the new Photos app.

Is the this laying the groundwork for an imminent FCP X update?

I would avoid this thing like the plague. Yosemite will, in my opinion, fuck you up for all time. This OS creates far more problems than it solves.

I just got caught in a word filter but no matter. Yosemite will screw you up for all time. Do not upgrade to this BS.

Just do a search. It's all out there.

Hmm. http://bit.ly/1EcEGwz

Nothing about Yosemite.

Actually, you didn't get blocked for the f-word... Pretty amazing, given that I, and many others here, have been blocked for using the word "special-ist" because it contains the letters that spell a popular drug used for male sexual dysfunction.

My guess is that the earliest time we will see an update should be around NAB or a little later. Not betting because my luck with the one arm bandit has been not so good.

Apple also released a new version of iOS today, so don't make assumptions that anything they do per Yosemite has anything to do with FCP X.

And, whatever you do, don't even think about upgrading or updating your IS without first cloning your working hard drive - many here have been hosed by Yosemite and/or bad drivers because they rushed to push the "all too easy to push button" that Apple sends to their desktop, before testing with Pro Apps.

As reluctant as I am to change stable and productive systems with the newest OS, I was surprised when DR released his new color grading plug-in for FCPX for Yosemite users only. I emailed him and he responded that it was because of development costs for previous OS and that the majority of X editors polled were on Yosemite.

Really...the majority of pro users of FCPX are on Yosemite?

It may well be that the majority of X users are on Yosemite, but if you also use Adobe apps with Cuda, better beware of Yosemite and the latest Cuda drivers.

I wonder if the latest version of CC will offer a fix to these problems?

At this point it seems to be a pointing game... Adobe pointing at the Cuda drivers and:or Yosemite, while others seem to be laying blame on Adobe. The biggest issue however is users installing upgrades and updates without first first cloning their working boot drive for protection.

I doubt that too. I think a more likely scenario could be that folks developing for FCPX might be being strong-armed into developing only for the latest OS. Not a good strategy for an application that is hanging it's hat on third party solutions, in my opinion.

Just installed the update and "Oh fiddle sticks!" Ran good old Disk Utility and repair permissions failed. So did a restart pressing Command R, was able to repair them. Started back up and all is fine. Just because an update is released does not mean jump in right away. Considering going back to Mavericks. Also, the iOS update included a few bugs. Numbers on graph in the Health App are off base but at least my steps are being counted. So much for those "bug fixes", roaches may have been evicted but in came the ants! Go figure.
