Bill, awesome!

I am going through this exact issue with some of my more impatient 9th & 10th grade students. The older students usually accept my advice going in.

Otherwise, they are learning that, to instantly start messing with the clips before selecting, often comes back to bite them when they cannot find anything they "liked."

They DO enjoy the "fun" of using the J-K-L, so that's my selling point to wade through all the stuff and make "selects."

With your permission, I'll show your video in class to underscore the process!

(Maybe my school will finally decide to spend some $$ on training programs; if so, I'll come to you first!)

First off, thanks everyone for the kind words. I appreciate it.

I can't imagine Alex Lindsey at PixelCorp, or Mark or Steve likely being the technical "authors" of the work, would have even the slightest objection to that type of classroom use. As to content use rights I might hold as a participant - I'll gladly give permission for any and all instructors to incorporate my part in their classroom teaching.

Education is a HUGE deal in my family, as my wife spent her early career first as a classroom teacher then later as a school district instructional specialist.

So feel free.

Maybe this will help some of your students catch onto the joys of editing! That would be awesome.

Damnit Bill ... now I can't think of as "that guy who rants about FCPX all day long." You are kind of a cool dude. Good job on the video.

Andy, your link sent me to a page of Timesavers YouTube's I had collected awhile back.

Can you tell me which one(s), or if you are on a MacBreak by episode number?

Thanks

Doug D

It was a while ago. I just downloaded it on itunes back when I did it. But I think it's episode 122: 3D Particle Emitter Tricks.

I was showing off tricks in Motion 4, not FCPX.

EDIT: I found it.

EDIT 2: Fixed broken link.

(laughinng)

Why is it I suddenly feel like maybe people expected me to show up with crazy hair and wild eyes, screaming at the top of my lungs?

At first I thought I was watching 60 Minutes for some odd reason. Sorry, just couldn't resist. :-)

Bill was in Radio at one point in his life. He's done a lot of Voiceover work as well... including some for my projects. So yes, he sounds good.

Congratulations Bill on your appearance...
