Given all the hurlyburly and panic of late, I think that Apple officially saying FCP 7 will work in Lion is actually a relatively big piece of good news. But then maybe I'm just hunting for anything that keeps the old editing paradigm alive a little longer...

A couple of things...

At least we DO know FCP 7 will work with OS X Lion.

XML APIs a few weeks away is good news. OMF looks possible too, when some said that may not happen.

Audio Track assignment *IS* coming.

Give it time. I will say though, Apple should have posted this FAQ up from the get-go.

Dean Neal...

Yep... It's official...

The real cost to get FCPX to "sort of" work is about $900 - surprize.

Someone over at Automatic Duck is kissing someone over at Apple "full on the lips"....

Until another 3rd party has a go at it. What do you think would be a fair price to pay for an OMF export utility?

Should have been included in the original price...

The way FCPX was brought out... it appears to be a closed system and dependent on outside vender to make it work with other editing applications. AVID tried this back in the old days and it almost bankrupted them...and, FCP stole AVID's market share.

It appears to me... that Apple's "new" marketing approach is simply AVID's old closed/propriatory marketing approach... and, AVID's old marketing approach did not work at all.
