32 bit is OLD and slow... Adobe is 64 bit. 4 years and FCPX is still compressing video at 32 bit. This is a joke.

Q: Compressor looks almost the same. Has it changed?

A: The biggest change is that Qmaster is now integrated directly into Compressor.
Compressor, however, remains a 32-bit application.

Is this a funny?

Are you piling on?

What possible reason could they have for keeping this in 32...

The hits just keep on coming...next you'll tell me xFC corrupts Adobe software

[Jamie Franklin] "What possible reason could they have for keeping this in 32..."

Compressor is basically a wrapper around QuickTime's conversion features, and QuickTime is not 64-bit and never will be. At some point Apple will probably rewrite Compressor around their new AV Foundation framework, but I guess they figured developing that framework and getting FCP X running on top of it was enough work for one release cycle.

Found a good read on it...

Still...blech.

I typically don't comment on things I haven't tried. I stayed away from this app as I have heard over and over while $50 is a good investment for this feature, it's rather a soft update to the old version...which I use at least 1-2 times daily and don't want to bugger my current workflow on something that needs time to illuminate bugs/issues...

I'm as happy as anyone else to talk smack about Apple at this point, but that's not their fault. 10.6.8 has been available to developers for a damned long time, and if they're too lazy to test against it why should Apple be held responsible?
