Anniversaries, Names, Gravestones

As we approach what might be considered by some to be near the second anniversary (or not) of the forum,

And since the monthy, bi-monthly, or otherwise frequent request, suggestion, and discussion of a forum name-change is due,

And on the heels of some particularly foul-toned threads,

I suggest that a name change might be considered for the forum, to reflect both the shift in discussion (and the hope that it broadens further), and - perhaps more importantly - to rather dampen the temptation to invective that "The Debate" moniker may be contributing to, above and beyond its use as a lightning rod and beacon for exchange of information, data, views, and object graph management.

I believe Chris Harlan suggested the "The Editors' Lounge".

Franz.

[Franz Bieberkopf] "I believe Chris Harlan suggested the "The Editors' Lounge"."

Isn't that trademarked?

I think COW would like a HOT title that would draw eyeballs.
They already have Platform Wars.
Looks like the armistice was signed though.
http://forums.creativecow.net/platformwars

I'd think something like
"Tag Team NLE Wrestling Bood Bath"
or
"My NLE's Red Hot, Your's ain't Doodly Squat"
or more simply
"NLE Death Match"
or maybe more accurate
"Grumpy Old Men" (quick, find the last post made in this forum by a woman).

Or maybe we're looking at this all wrong. We want the COW to get lots of eyeballs. Let's thing about what works on YouTube.

Craig, I KNOW we can count on your support if we go with Avid Death Pit.

They all are. Check this Monsters of Metal lineup:

Avid Death Pit
Legacy
X
Vegas
Edius

Almost works; Premiere is a little Bubble Gum, but CS6 sounds like some sort of nerve gas, so maybe that will do.

Ain't sendin' Cambridge no polite death wreath.
Yo! Legacy mofos, its time to switch
choose X or Premiere
and make Avid your ----.

If it ain't broke why fix it?

Still seems a pretty relevant title to me and it really compliments the FCPX Techniques Forum. Mostly the discussions are pretty considered and informative, the individuals who derive huge enjoyment from winding up others stick out a mile - or should I say individual?

What it allows is a more erudite view of where FCPX sits in the market. And yes it is slowly gaining more traction at the broadcast end of the spectrum.

No, you should definitely stick with the plural.

[Mark Dobson] "What it allows is a more erudite view of where FCPX sits in the market. And yes it is slowly gaining more traction at the broadcast end of the spectrum."

I'm sure the Vegas and Edius editors would make the same claim with "slowly" and "more" being both ambiguous and irrelevant. For all his wild ranting the Mandy test initiated by Aindreas is unbiased and substantial.

Yeah, you are right, 'slowly' and 'more' are not most precise word to use.

However, I think that recent news from Craig Slattery that the BBCs flagship arts programme 'The Culture Show' is edited with FCPX is a sign that the software is making inroads into a marketplace that would have been hard to imagine 2 years ago.

no offence to craig - but this is not exactly the first time he has highlighted the fact that he cuts for the culture show on FCPX - also it is not the programme or the BBC adopting FCPX - it is craig, he is a freelancer employed by the BBC for that show. The BBC generally cuts on avid to my knowledge, some FCP, although they did bulk purchase a few thousand premiere seats last year - its meant to fill out lower stuff and produce self edit jobs. the BBC has not purchased a single license of FCPX, or installed a single seat to my knowledge.

Another biggie recently was the Associated Press announcement that they are shifting their entire news and documentary editing production process entirely to Premiere Pro.

Great show, great editing, a good pace with enough time to dig in to the subject matter and sure it could have been cut on Avid or Premier but the point is that it was cut beautifully on FCPX which many people still deride as an amateur app.

not me - I may say 'barmy' but not amateur. It's far from that. some of it is warp drive advanced.
