The father of the Macintosh is rightfully nonplussed.

Marco Arment is less rightfully less diplomatic about it.

John Siracusa doesn't like it.

Worst of all, we already have a kiss-of-death email response from Tim Cook:

"Our pro customers are really important to us...don't worry as we're working on something really great for later next year."

Last one out, turn out the lights and lock up.

Best,
Andy

I just can't say what I'm wanting more: significant upgrades or a thesaurus for Apple's speechwriters since there must be a couple of words that can replace the "awesome" and "thrilled" that ring hollow after you hear them to describe every change and every gathering. Apple doesn't need engineers as much as some sensitivity training towards customers' concerns. That said I understand it can be difficult to please everyone and the much desired roadmap would play into the hands of its competitors. Still those competitors must clearly see that next generation Thunderbolt for example is going to happen and Apple will be the one to take advantage of it first, perhaps even in driving these large Retina displays.

And then Tim said...." and in the meantime we're working resolutionizing the television. You'll be able to watch all this great tv content on an Apple television. Nobody will be making any of the content on Apple devices, but ..."
