Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3 Export Sound stops at 1:30 on a 2 minute piece

I have cleared preferences, repaired permission and done restarts to clear the software.

I have a 2 minute package with 2 cameras synced and music.

Plays fine until you export. Tried every format and all the sound just stops at 1:30 on the 2:00 project. Video looks fine.

Tried exporting a self contained movie? It's found through the export command in the Share menu? This might preserve the audio, then use that file to make your delivery compression.

Post the format of the video and audio you're working from too.

I did do self contained export. I tried almost everyone with the same results.

One movie is AVI and the other is Mov. I have a MP3 audio. Plays just fine in the program.

Have you tried just exporting the audio only? If it works, you could import that file and replace the separate audio clips with it...?

Only other thing I can think of is to transcode the MP3 files to aiffs then export it using those instead.

Also!

Make sure that the sequence is completely rendered too.

I did try exporting audio only and the combing it, but the audio alone does the same thing.

Oh my god. I had this happen a few weeks ago. I could not find a reason for it or a fix. I had to to rebuild much of it in a timeline with tracks.

Fcpx is pretty slick but he has some brain damage and forgets way to many things to be a useful tool

Try deleting your render files?

I had a similar issue on a project round-tripped in from Resolve. The fix was to copy & paste the clips to a new, empty project.

I just totally redid the project. By the way the audio is straight from itunes and not MP3.

This time the audio craps out at the same point. However I am noticing it fading out this time.

Output to mov with h.264 and a few other settings and all give the same results.

Have you tried another track just to confirm it's the original track causing the problem?

Also can you convert the track from iTunes to a 48K AIFF file to see if that works?

Also is it track purchased on iTunes?

Not sure how to convert to 48K AIFF can you tell me?

It is Royalty Free Music downloaded as MP3 and pulling it in through the iTunes box in Final Cut.

Do you have compressor? If so open the MP3 in that and convert it.

I started over and in a way felt this was similar to copying and pasting. Used all the same files and still had the same issues. I finally shifted the timeline and output with having to edit sound in another software and then combined them back in Final Cut.

Still need to figure out what is wrong. Can't use the software like this again.

"I started over and in a way felt this was similar to copying and pasting"

Actually, no it isn't, because you have embedded info in the project file itself. Starting over in the same project isn't doing the same thing as copy and lasting to a completely new, clean project file.

Oliver

Not sure I understand. I created a new project file. What is the diffence of me creating a new project file and starting fresh verses copying and pasting? Seems to me that you are more likely to bring over any glitches when you copy and paste rather than starting fresh.

[Stanley Leary] " I created a new project file. What is the diffence of me creating a new project file and starting fresh verses copying and pasting?"

Got it. I misunderstood. I thought you had re-edited it within the same project file.

Sorry didn't see your reply.

You didn't understand me. Take the audio files from iTunes, and rebuild them in compressor to an aif file. Then edit those aif's into the sequence, replacing the old audio files.

The audio file's format is causing this problem I'll bet, and you need to rebuild it so that when export happens, it doesn't cut out.

I had this happen recently on two projects. The first time the only fix I found was to export my timeline to a self contained Quicktime. Share > Export Media. Then cut my 53 minute sequence just before the audio dropped and delete everything before. I export the remaining two minutes and it spit out the audio and then 51 minutes of silence afterward... there was nothing in the timeline (checked the index) after the two minutes of remaining audio.

I've found that sometimes even if I delete clips FCPX still thinks my sequence is as long as it was at the longest point.

I then was able to edit the two minute audio bit to the full export in a new project. It sucked. I tried everything. Delete renders, render everything before the export, audio only, audio only roles as separate files, send to compressor, copy to new sequence (wouldn't copy), export XML (it failed to import - error message), looked for anomalies in my timeline at the point the audio dropped out (nothing apparent). The only thing I could figure is that I synced the video clips using the beta of PluralEyes for FCPX and maybe it did something weird in creating the XML that was sent back after synchronizing.

The second time I actually found something in my timeline that solved the issue. An editor had used a fade on a connected audio clip which turned it into a storyline. I don't know why they didn't adjust the fade in/out handle, but this was a secondary storyline with a gap and an audio clip and a fade between the two. I removed the fade, broke apart the secondary storyline, delete the gap clip and adjusted the fade handle and it worked perfect after that.

Is it possible that you either used Pluraleyes on your project, or have an actual dissolve/fade transition fading audio in or out at the time the audio drops? Do you get an error message if you try to export an XML of your project and reimport it?

I did as Oliver Peters suggests:
"I had a similar issue on a project round-tripped in from Resolve. The fix was to copy & paste the clips to a new, empty project."
I zoomed out and copied everything I had. I then started a new project and pasted everything on the new blank palette. Shared as usual and it works like it should. I want to know why does it happen? How can I prevent this from happening again?

Having the same problem. I found this advice to work as well, but I'd also like to have this bug fixed, understand how to work around it.
