G5's and inputting HD files from Dslr's

All: Hope you can help.

Can 2004 G5's actually recognize/accept video files from HD DSLR's?

We cannot launch Finalcut; messages saying processor is inadequate; VRAM is inadequate, and screen size recommended is not adequate.

We shoot on Canon t2i's........and have been using Compressor on more recent imacs to create files that Final cut (NOT version 10).......will like..
Don't think it is even possible to input into these old systesm....correct?

DSLR video is not in any way dependent on certain Macs, but FCP is.

Which version of Final Cut are you trying to run on your old G5?

Final Cut Pro 7 requires an Intel Mac., whereas the G5 is a Power PC Mac.

DSLR video must be converted to an editable format. ProRes is only an option if you run FCP 6 or 7, but it is the best option. And on a G5...that will take a LONG TIME to convert.
