Yowza!

What's a Rig? I'm not an effects artist, but I do know Motion 4... It doesn't have "Rigs"? right? Is this a new camera?

I think you ask a great question. It could be anything, but in After Effects you can do a camera rig. It can makes it easier to animate. Here is a little sample: http://www.motionworks.com.au/2006/04/camera_rig_project/

But who knows, they could have a Rig be anything.

[Jerry Hofmann] "What's a Rig? I'm not an effects artist, but I do know Motion 4... It doesn't have "Rigs"? right? Is this a new camera?"

In effects, a rig is a simple set of controls and constraints that allow you to manipulate a complicated object without having to manually controlling every element.

Camera rigs are a good analogy -- think of the adjustment knobs on a stereoscopic camera rig for example. Another example might be a marionette rig. You operate the cross-shaped piece, it connects to the puppet with wires, and you can get complicated leg and arm movements with simple wrist moves.

And if you go to the Twitter account referenced
http://twitter.com/#!/BWilks2001

There are links to picks all of which seem to have been pulled down from Twitter. When pics are removed it may mean they're real and Apple or someone is acting in their behalf to have them pulled.
Pics pulled were Scopes Menu, Color Adjustment Panel, Rig Menu, Project Browser, FCPX Import Preferences,

The entire Twitter account is now gone.

This must be real or somebody pulled the pics and then the account to fake us all out. Either somebody left their copy of Motion 5 in a bar in Cupertino or somebody's NDA got seriously broke.

Alas they did such a good job uplifting our hopes though.

Of course maybe this is Apple's new marketing scheme. Fake Twitter account. Post some pics to get them out there and pull it all to get some serious buz going at no cost. I mean look at all this happy talk after seeing these pics. What an inexpensive way to silence the naysayers with just a few screenshots in the wild.

It makes me believe that its not the end of the road for other applications like studio pro & color.

Looks like apple hasn't called it 'quits' for pro applications. Very heartening news indeed!

:) motion looks more mature and well organized

the scope menu is nice too... not something you'd see in a software that dumped pro users.

its not cool enough to be a hoax.

And if some of use were concerned about download file size it's time to be even more concerned.
Motion has all those templates and media elements.

If this keeps up either an Online Store boxed set must happen or Apple is building their own ISP.

I read recently they invested quite a bit in some new data centers over the last year

But that won't help with slow internet connections that many are stuck with. Apple would have to develop their own ISP for that. iFIOS maybe.

Well, let's just say that Apple committed an error of omission by leaving out any mention of Motion, Color, and STP at NAB and beyond, creating a zillion Chicken Littles who have been freaking-out ever since April 13th.

The best part of the story for me is that they mentioned a new version of Color. I'm really, really curious to see how this ties in with a color-managed, floating-point linearized color space in FCP X, and if Apple offers better FCP X integration than BMD does with Resolve 8.

You have to hold the Motion screenshots up to a mirror to see what's hidden.
That scope image needs to be run through a device (which I forget the name of at the moment) to see what picture is actually revealed.

That's not correct. You play the audio backwards and use Shazam on your iPhone to tell you what's hidden.

Hmm, how do I convert screenshots into audio. I know there's an app for that but . . . well the App Store really needs a better search function. You know it's just like Apple to cater to the Pros and ignore us consumers. If they ever pulled something with the ProApps like they have with .MAC and now MobleMe I'd be livid I tells ya.
