I think a very large part of FB's appeal is that it's a one stop shop. You can connect with work, family and friends all in one spot. It's kinda like shopping at the mall because it's easier than going to a number of different shops all over town.

Personally I think FB is horrible for trying to find information. Their algorithm decide what you see and how you see it. If I pull up FB on my phone and FB on my laptop the posts in the feeds won't even be ordered the same way. If someone is posting a problem the response on FB or Twitter will probably be faster than on dedicated sites like the COW or, but trying to go back and find already existing information can be a real PITA. It can be an information black hole at times.
