man builds up to important decision: he's jumping in with FCPX

http://finalcutwhiz.com/misc/fcpx-or-not-to-fcpx/?utm_source=feedburner&utm...

the update at the end is priceless.

this software... is a dog. Chris Kenny can tell me that clip relationships are making FCPX self aware like a T1000 editing system, and that it is becoming three dimensionally, vertically area cognisant with localised database logic flowing out to discreet event containers of media that are intended to answer the media issues likely to arise from 2020 to 2030, then someone else will start talking endless balls about the intellectual magic and immense future horsepower of the AV foundation and that will all be utterly fascinating to read.

Sadly however that does not alter the fact that this software is nothing other than a gaudy, confused, mindlessly irritatingly sluggish and imprecise on the timeline itself, just an awful awful shambolic utter mess of confused market, confused execution, confused rollout, I mean what were they doing at NAB? They knew they had to literally lie by omission on a grand scale with it... ech.

this software is a d-o-g. dog dog dog. I may have said that before.

Aindreas,

You've really got to stop keeping your feelings all bottled up inside... It's not healthy.

Just tell us how you really feel

Anyone remember Apple's LISA?

Yes, I had five of them. Compared to how Apple has handled the FCPX release and the killing off of the other pro apps, I'd say that Apple handled the bungling and killing off of the Lisa quite well by comparison...

While I'm not willing to completely write off this noble experiment just yet, I will say that calling FCP X a dog is grossly unfair to all canines.

My puppy is offended by any such comparison and he has asked me to post the following image in response. And BTW, in case Chris Kenny is should happen to tune in, I'd just like to assure him that everyone on the forum is intelligent enough to understand that this image is merely a representation of a dog, not an actual dog. Are we clear on that Chris?

While dog is man's best friend, I was thinking FCPX is the cat's meow personally.

[Craig Seeman] "I was thinking FCPX is the cat's meow personally."

All the cats I ever owned liked playing by themselves

Dogs are much more social, like to play with others...

I try and introduce my cat to an xm..err another cat it hisses and scratches

And isn't it interesting that people used to, and some still do, worship cats like Gods...only, the big cats, are going extinct...

I don't know what made me think of that...

My cats have always been social. You may need to be careful of the claws though. That also fits FCPX. It's still a kitten though. It will play more nicely when introduced to Lion.

Craig,

Personally, about the only similarity I see with cats is, as I've said in the past, if I wanted to be ignored I'd get a cat (or, possibly remarried).

[Craig Seeman] "It will play more nicely when introduced to Lion."

If you're expecting a miracle under Lion I fear you'll be disappointed.

Well you don't release and charge for a product that is not ready for use.

The Egyptians actually did worship cats. My cats are trying to bring Egyptian religion back. Also, another Cliff Clavinism: It's a little known fact that the Egyptians invented make-up, so that they could look more like cats.

ROFL

(Coincidentally, Isn't that the sound a dog makes - when throwing up? ROFL?
I don't know - I have 5 cats! When I showed them FCP X, all I got was "Hack, Hack, Hack" :) )

ah god no - I am actually definitely running out of steam. Just thought I'd have one more pop at the - artificially intelligent Asimov three laws clip connections that are making the timeline structurally self aware - that stuff is just total balls.

My dogs asked me to reply to this. The resent any association with this software.
They consider it more of an albatross. Or a dodo.
Thanks,

You should remember, though, that hay that's been through the horse once is a heck of a lot cheaper!

I'd say (based on public reaction only - I'm an AVID and PPro user) that FCPX is like a once killer cat that's been detoothed and declawed, and had its' ears put where its' tail used to be.
