The primary video guy at our company is needing a very large scale, enterprise-level video archiving solution - we're talking at least a few hundred TB in a RAID array. I have absolutely no idea how to scale something like that. Can anyone here point me towards some tried-and-true options for storage of this magnitude?
First, think past RAID arrays. They are not often the best archive platforms for 100s of TBs and up. Look at LTO-5 Libraries as well. That is assuming by "archive" you mean something that you are not editing from or accessing with a lot of frequency. I hear some people using "archive" as a euphemism for "big centralized storage".
That said, seek help from a large-scale storage integrator. There really isn't a single product to solve your dilemma. It will take a number of products working in concert, aligned with your workflow, to get you where you want to be.
