Our church archived direct to disc for many, many years before we were able to convert to a digital-only workflow. As a result, we have accumulated roughly 7-8 years (!) of DVDs that need to be ripped for digital archiving - literally hundreds of discs.
I been working for a number of months to find a way to rip a DVD automatically when inserted into a drive in order to make this job feasible. The handful of utilities and scripts that I have found thus far have been nonfunctional for one reason or another.
Is anyone here familiar with an application/utility/platform that is capable of automatically ripping video from DVDs? Or failing that, has anyone had a similar situation needing to digitize DVDs in large quantities?
Would be faster if you simply copy the Video_TS folders to a disk or array, and then do the ripping from disk. Ripping DVDs off the DVD limits you to the speed of the DVD drive. Once on the hard drive, even MPEG Streamclip can batch process the DVD folders.
