A question about Archive Catalogs in BRU PE 3.0.2
on Nov 17, 2014 at 4:28:18 pm

Hello!

So, while making a library of backups - I realized I'd forgotten to include a file on one of my tapes. I wrote a new tape but in doing so forgot to delete the old archive catalog. Now, when I go to the "Restore" tab of BRU, it shows two tape sets for the same name - the old one with the missing file and the new one. Is there any way to delete an "archive" from a tape set? (Or is this called an archive catalog?)

I can't seem to find any answers about if your archival information is at all editable after-the-fact.

Worst case, I could pull everything off the tape onto a drive, delete the archive and tape set, and lay it off again. But I'd rather not have to buy a new tape and lay it off again every time I make a mistake.

Advice?

Thaddeus

The Catalog information is fully documented in the BRU PE User's Guide in Appendix B.

I would recommend opening a support ticket at http://support.bru.com and let the guys help you directly with this.

BRU ... because it's the RESTORE that matters!

Thanks!

Unfortunately, I'm beyond the 30 days from original purchase window which is required for a support ticket. I'll check the user guide and see what I can find.

This type of question would fall under the realm of restore issues, so the team would answer it. You would get the canned "Expired Support" message at the top, but the guys are really good about following up on anything that could cause restore confusion.

The guys were indeed really good. If anybody else has a similar question I would suggest reaching out to them with a support ticket - as always you guys live up to your promise to ensure the restore process works well.

Thanks!
