Advice for buying a quality hard drive?
on Sep 11, 2011 at 5:05:28 am

Not sure where else to ask this, so this seemed like the best place. I want to get a new 3 TB 7,200 rpm drive for my Macpro. I am looking at drives from http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?atclk=Capacity_3TB&ci=6525&N=429454238...

Does anyone have any opinions regarding quality of these different drive companies? Hitachi, Seagate, Western Digital? I would like to spend about $350 max. Thanks!

StorageReview.com is a great place to research this.

Best,

My advice on hard drives is completely vendor-neutral:

All hard drives fail -- it's a matter of when, not if. Back everything up, because if you only have one copy of a piece of data, you are a quick accident or equipment failure away from having zero copies.
