any tips for low light shooting with t2i?
on Sep 18, 2011 at 5:45:17 am

we all know that dslr are suppose to be great with low light shooting. However, I must be doing something wrong because I'm receiving a lot of noise from a black cabinet I was shooting. Settings (with magic lantern): 6400 iso, 2100k white balance, 1/30 shutter speed, f4.5 apeture, and technicolor so I can color correct. I only got this camera for about a week any info is great

The only thing you're doing wrong is to shoot with a slow lens. Shooting f4.5 and because of that having to push ISO so extremely high will inevitably lead to much grain.

Get a faster lens and try to avoid ISOs higher than 800 with the T2i.

Since you're using ML you can use ISOs with multiples of 160 (160, 320, 480, 640, ... ) which produce less noise than the "even" ones.
