 | Canon 5D Mark III cannot access CF card

I can format the new CF card on my iMac and the Canon knows a CF card is in the slot, but it cannot access it or format it. The Canon uses an SD card without any problem. Any idea why the Canon cannot access the CF card? What am I missing? PS: B&H decided the CFs are defective so they are being replaced hopefully with working cards.

Never format in the computer. Always let the Camera format the card after you've transferred the file to the iMac. It could be directory corruption. It could be a bad card. But rule #1, always format the card in the camera you will record to.

Warren is exactly right. My guess is you got a bad card. And in the future, leave the formatting to the camera.
