juicedLink DT454 + Sony a7S = ????

Hi,

I've got a juicedLink DT-454, currently configured for Canon DSLRs, but I'm having trouble getting it to work properly with a Sony a7S.

• Based on the image below, what should I change on the DT-454?
• What internal camera settings do I need to adjust?

If you have experience with the DT-454, or newer juicedLink units (RM333, RM222) where settings ought to be similar, if not the same, I'd love to hear from you. Step-by-step and/or photo instructions would be ideal as I'm not really an audiophile.

Here is a photograph of my settings from the underside of the unit.

Thanks,

Ian

Ian, the manual for the JuiceLink is very comprehensive, like most equipment (cameras, audio gear etc) are not set and forget items and need to be adjusted to each and every setting.
The switches and controls under the juice link are mainly for input settings, you haven't mentioned what microphones etc that will be going into it.

Thanks—mostly I'll use a Sennheiser ME66.

I sent the same photo to juicedLink and received an email response...
"The A7s has manual control, meters, and headphones. So, you will not use AGC Disable on the preamp, or its meters or headphones. The camera used is inconsequential to the other preamp settings."

Will see if I can get it working tonight.

Thanks for the responses. I'd missed seeing the primary AGC control on the underside of the preamp i.e. OFF, TONE, NOISE; my problem was that I was adjusting only the intensity of the function (HIGH, LOW). Switched the main setting to off, set the XLR gain(s) to High, and adjusted the levels internally in the camera (no longer ramped down). Seems like I'm on the right track...

Apparently the a7S doens't have an AGC function like the Canon 7D.

After these changes, the electronic glitching sound that I was hearing is gone; audio seems clean. The 12V setting works to power the microphone, but when switched to the 48V setting, it becomes louder/deeper sound. Anyone know the specifics of what's happening with this?
