Hi all,

We’re stopping in to say hello and introduce ourselves. You may or may not have heard of iZotope or our audio repair and enhancement software, RX? Well, we’d just like to let you all know that going forward, we’ll be here to answer any of your audio post production workflow questions relating to repair, enhancement, editing, mixing and delivery, sharing some of our expertise where appropriate, and generally getting to know you all. We’re really looking forward to be interacting with you all directly, so please let us know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to hear from us or any questions we can answer for you.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Best,

Good to see you here, Evan!

I am in the middle of a discussion about repairing a dialog track over on another forum (dvinfo). The original track was quite "down in the mud" on the noise floor, and they used Izotope RX4 to clean it up. I was VERY IMPRESSED how well Izotope RX4 was able to rescue the track out of the mud. I will be buying a copy next time I have to deal with such a problem.

Now, we are discussing how to EQ the rescued track from the poor performance of the microphone (and perhaps the subject as well!)

Hi Richard,

Thank you for the kind words! Sounds like the Denoiser got a good workout on that one, eh? Should you decide to invest in RX (or before then just for some good audio repair knowledge), I'd definitely recommend downloading our free Audio Repair Guide to help get the most out of it! There's a number of best practices that can help you get the best result (e.g. running a few passes of the Denoiser at a lower reduction setting as opposed to a single pass at a higher reduction setting) in there, and even if you don't use RX, there's a lot of good general audio repair and enhancement knowledge to be gained.

Thanks for the link, we saw it there and are actually currently awaiting approval on our account!

Hello Evan,

I'm a big fan of RX. I have ben using RX3 after meeting the izotope folks at AES NY a few years back and following up with Martina McConnon.

I use RX3 every day to clean up SKYPE phone audio for a radio interview show that airs on Family Talk 131 on Sirius/XM. It really makes a difference for our show, "Aches And Gains."

Although you can't hear what we started with, the results are audible on any of Pau's shows here: scroll down to get to the shows…….

Hi Ty,

Thank you, we're glad to hear RX is making a difference in your work on Aches And Gains!

Even if the location of the interviewee was completely silent (which I'm sure 99% of the time, it is not), lossy compression for streamed content can wreak all sorts of havoc on audio so I'll bet you've had your work cut out for you.

We plan on being back at AES NY this year so if you're headed back, we will see you there!

We've been using RX since its first release. Back when I started in the business if someone said they could do what RX does today, they would've been called a magician. I consider it an indispensable tool.

Hello Evan,

Are you still checking into this forum? I just purchased iZotope RX 5 Audio Editor to work with Media Composer 8.6.5. Will the 2014 edition of Repair & Enhancement work for version 5? It seems to have some things that the RX Cookbook doesn't have.

Thanks for listening!

Hi Jayasri,

The 2014 edition of the Audio Repair and Enhancement will absolutely be relevant if you're using RX 5! The guide is something that is on our backlog to get updated but we haven't gotten to it yet. Additionally, if you're more into watching videos than reading, you might want to check out this webinar I did a few months back:

While I use Pro Tools in the video, the workflow will be very much the same in Media Composer. I hope RX 5 is working out great for you!

Best,
-EA
