I seem to be having a problem with the Rode NTG-2 mic. It sounds good when phantom powered, but when I use the internal AA battery I get a nasty, static sound (in addition to the audio). I've tested two of these mics with different recorders, inputs, cables, batteries. They both have the same issue. Am I missing something or do I just have two bad, brand new mics?
After further testing, it seems that if I switch from phantom power to mic (turning phantom power off) I get that noise. However, it does fade away after about 2 minutes. As long as I don't switch back and forth between the two it's fine.
