New here and to many things in the audio realm. Quick question - I am using a
Blackmagic camera and just came into the possession of a Tascam HD-P2. I read
the manual but I'm still not sure how to sync the two with timecode. Anybody know
of a tutorial for a newbie or can you explain?
I don't think the BMC outputs SMPTE Timecode, so you can't sync directly with the camera.
Plural Eyes is your friend.
Otherwise, you could try the "poor man's timecode" method of running an external TC generator into the TC Input of the HD-P2 and into one of the audio inputs of the BMC. Bring the video files into Avid MC and use a feature called "Read Audio Timecode" to create a virtual timecode timeline which you can then sync your imported wav files into.
Michael - Thanks for the info. I don't know if it helps any but
on the BlackMagic site is say:
"The Blackmagic Cinema Camera records "time of day' timecode based on the time and date settings in the camera. This can be accessed via the touchscreen menu. The SDI output of the camera also carries RP-188 timecode."
