VU and dbfs peak measurement

Is there any vst plugin or software that can show maximum VU and dbfs in a specific audio? I mean without staring at the meters all the time during the audio playing.

Hello Grzegorz and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

Pro Tools has an Audio Suite plugin called Gain that let's you first measure the rms or peak level of the file before you change it.

Hello Ty,

I dont use Mac. I am working with Vegas and Sound Forge.

My tv station requires dbfs not to exceed -10dbfs and 0VU, however the
average VU should be around -4VU.

I d like to see the peaks of these two meters and for example average values without having to go through the whole audio by myself.

Grzegorz,

Pro Tools is not a Mac only application. You don't need two meters. The correct meter shows both at the same time. I'm guessing vegas and sound forge both do something similar. Check preferences for metering adjustment.

If you can't find them, go here:
http://www.dorrough.com/products.html

Dorrough has been making great metering for years.

Also, Sound Devices mixers have this metering.

Orban has a downloadable meter program that you might be able to use.

Take a look here.

Would you like it to mix it for you as well.

Mixing is all about a collaboration between your ears, fingers, heart (emotion) and technicals (like desks, DAW, and meters. Its about creation.
Pop a limiter on it to protect your maxes if you cant do it in the mix yourself, and the mix will be right if your ears say its right, not some wrtten spec from a broadcaster.
They can remix it themselves if they arent happy.
