Using Multiple Mic with Sennheiser EW 100 G2

Hi Guys,

I am having a bit of trouble: My system set up is as follows:

1no. EW100 G2 True Diversity Receiver
2.no EW100 G2 Body pack receiver.
2.no ME2 lapel mics going into the body packs.

Each mic when switched on independently works fine and I pick up a good sound.

However when both body packs are on, we get a weird interference swishy sound?

I saw on the net that we should have the 2 body packs 50 mhz apart so we tried that but when we do this the 2 mics dont get picked up, they only work again when one is turned off.

Can I just confirm that this system can work with 2 mics?

Thanks it advance, I am missing out on a whole night of filming so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Alistair

When you change the transmitter frequency you have to change the receiver frequency to match.

Each set of tx and rx have to be on different frequencys from each other. Example: Set #1 tx & rx on 540.00, Set #2 tx & rx on 541.00.
What frequencys do you have on your tx & rx now?

Hi Eric,

I only have 1 receiver? I currently have that on 840.400

I then have 1 body pack on 840.375
The other bosy pack on 840.425

This way they are 50mhz apart but this is working? Are you saying I need an additional receiver?

You MUST have a receiver for EACH transmitter..........

Radio mic systems work as a matched pair, the Transmitter sends to the Receiver that is tuned to it.

You can never, never, never send 2 transmitters to one receiver it just wont work.

The difference between Knowledge and Wisdom is... Knowledge is the knowing of facts.... Wisdom is the sensible application of good quality knowledge...

2 tx & 1 RX? Not going to work that way. As others have said you need a receiver for each transmitter.

Ok guys thanks for your help, how about this then:

I have an adapter MZA900 which allows me to connect my body pack directly into a Tascam Dr 100 via XLR. If I was to buy another of these adaptors for the other body pack and connected this to the other XLR connection on the Tascam would this work?

Im guessing that because the 2 xlr connections are left and right, this would record each of the mics onto seperate channels but I could then edit these in final cut by copying them to both channels?

If by body pack you mean the transmitters then it's still NO. You need a receiver for each transmitter to demodulate the RF signal from the tx. Look stop trying to change the laws of physics. Go out and buy another receiver.

ok, Two Mza900's will allow you to put each lav mic on a different channel but you'll no longer be wireless from the talent to the camera. If your camera has 48v phantom power you're good to go with a couple of 25" xlr cables.

Of course I would love another receiver but they will be illegal next year so might aswell wait until I can afford a whole new system!

Im an entrepreneur always trying to work as efficient.

Ok, I understand your dilemma. Then the only way to use two lavs would be to get two MZA's and hard wire them to the camera or recorder.

how do you mount the two receivers to the camera?
i am in same situation... would like to use two lavaliers for dialogue. if i need two receivers, not sure how to mount.
shooting on the AF 100, so two XLR's no prob, but only one spot for mounting one receiver. any thoughts? or is this so unorthodox it's not done? ?
thanks!
