I've installed a trial version of helix server and am trying to get end to end with an audio only live stream to start with but I'm a little lost on how an encoder integrates with the helix server.
My main question is does the encoder live broadcast to the server in whatever format is native to it (e.g. real for real encoder, mms/slickstream for expressions, 3gp for some open source encoder) and then helix will broadcast all the other formats (e.g. i encode via real encoder and helix will broadcast in real, mms and to mobile phones all from that one stream) or do I need an encoder-per-streaming-protocol and helix is really just "reflecting" each protocol to the clients which connect.
Have taken multiple passes at the documentation and the quickstart guide but most of that assumes on-demand streaming of a file over helix. I don't quite get all the plumbing steps to connect the livestream to the mount point to what the client then calls.
