Is there any way to see the sound wave in clipped sound? Basically, it was recorded way too loudly and in FCP, all I can see is a block of clipped sound rather than an actual wave of low and high points.
While FCP lets you see the audio waveform in the timeline, you don't have a control over the scale of the waveform. Still, the FCP default waveform shows the complete resolution, so if you see a block with clipped tops, that is all there is to show. You can make your audio tracks taller in the timeline window to see better, but you're not generating better resolution that way. If you don't see the peaks of the waveform, it's probably because they've been chopped off by the clipping.
