AES EBU card Macpro
on Aug 7, 2010 at 4:01:01 pm

Hi guys, i need to fit 2 in and 2 out stereo AES EBU channels in a macpro, i need to know a reliable pci card to connect the MP to a radio console so i can record 2 stereo at a time and playback 2 stereo too?

if i use a single card with multiple I/O channels, could i assign each stereo channel to different programs working at a time?

regards

HI
Im curious why you need aes / ebu. My recollection (not current) is that aes IO can just be converted down to phono into an spdif digital card. The advantage being cost, but disadvantage is that you lost the metadata content of the aes signal, but do you need this (or ing it?) Spdif cards will be much more available and much cheaper.
Cheers
Peter

+1 for RME

If you only need AES I/O and want a PCIe card, you could go for this:

Simple PCIe card with 8 AES i/o with wordclock i/o.
