Mask drops in volume

In Adobe Premiere, I've had to lower the volume in some places because it becomes to loud. The problem is that you can hear the sound drop in the clip when this happens. Is there any way I could mask this? My idea right now is to take some ambient sound from another part of the clip when no one is speaking and place that under the lowered volume part. Any tips?

I think what you are saying is that the background noise is reduced when you lower the clip level?

Yes, using "room tone" (ambient/background sound) from a nearby clip is a good way to make the sound track more even and "natural" sounding.

Yes that's exactly what you should do, just be subtle and patient and it should work out .. use fade ins and outs for a smooth transition.
