Megaphone Plugin

I'm checking in to see if they've created a megaphone plugin yet for voice over's. I've heard what I want on the radio so there must be something. I have Soundbooth CS3.
I saw a post on here from 2003 saying to use an EQ and play with the highs and lows but looking for something with the true sound.

Thanks for your help!
Tony

If you want a true megaphone sound, modeled using impulse responses, you want Audio Ease Speakerphone. Of course, it's one big tool which will give you waaaaay more than megaphones, but it's unbeatable, IMO.

I'm not sure what plug-in formats Soundbooth accepts, but Speakerphone is available in VST, RTAS, AU... should cover all bases.

Wow JC, this is awesome software! I need to put the money together to get this. With all the different plugin noises/sounds it is a good purchase.

Thanks for the link!

Why don't you ask a local school or sports team if they have one you can borrow for a session or two?

Just make sure you have enough headroom and record away.

Hey Wolf, yes that would work for me if it was just my voice over but when I get one pre-made I want to change the tune.

Thanks for the idea!

Ah, I see. Well, a plug-in or program would work for you nicely. If you're the experimental type who likes projects, you could wire up a midrange driver from a 3-way speaker and play the V/O through that, mic it, and see your results. I always enjoy finding out new ways to do things.

Oh, you could always try having the talent hold a paper cup next their mouth when doing the V/O. That's one of the ways they did/do it on radio. :-)

Yeah, I've had people talk through walki talkies before and recorded the sound off the other walki...whatever it takes!

I've "worldized" tracks - playing voices through various devices to get the sound I wanted. I'm really interested in getting Speakerphone by AudioEase, It does "...walkie-talkies, distant transistor radios, upstairs TV sets, bullhorns, cell phones and guitar cabinets... 400 speaker impulse responses, 23 microphones, 106 'Covers' (from blankets to car trunks)..." I've heard a lot of great things about it from people I respect; I've got Altiverb already and Speakerphone is on my list for my next software upgrade.

Me to Bob, it covers a lot of ideas to spice up voice overs.
