We're needing to get some noise-canceling headphones for when we shoot in some noisy factories. One of the cows mentioned Remote Audio's HN7506 Blockout headphones. While those would definitely do the job, I don't think we need that level of noise protection. So I've done some snoopin' around on B&H and came up with a couple that look interesting.

Direct Sound EX-29 Extreme Isolation Headphones

Sony MDR-NC60 Noise-Canceling Headphones

JVC HA-NC250 Noise-Canceling Headphones

Any feedback you can give would be welcome.

We're also exploring better options, like the MixPre! It all depends on budget.

Hello Michael and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

Noise canceling phones with active circuits usually mess up the sound.

The DIrect Sound phones weren't that good.

Get some Dave Clark outers to cover a set of MDR 7506 SOny's

Ty Ford

Sounds like the way to go. I poked around the davidclark.com website for awhile buy couldn't find anything. Do you have a link for the "outers" you mentioned?

I agree with Ty. The headphones you came up with aren't the way to go.

On the slightly cheaper end, I think Sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones do a nice job of noise isolation, while still giving you an accurate response. HD280's cost $90.

On the fancy end, Beyerdynamic DT 770 M headphones are really sweet. You put them on and you feel like you're about to mix live sound at an arena. They cost $209.

The already mentioned Remote Audio HN-7506 are the ultimate. Aviator sunglasses are a must when using these.
