rescuing an unreadable wave file
on Jul 21, 2009 at 3:41:08 pm

Hi friends,

I recorded almost two hours of sound this past weekend, and my recorder (a Zoom H4) ran out of battery power and shut down. But- there is a 56O MB file on it, it just won't play. I'm guessing ths is because it wasn't saved properly when the recorder shut down.

But there's SOMETHING there! 560 MB worth of something. Any ideas on how to salvage/rescue this media?

thanks,
Tony

If you Google "corrupt wav file" a bunch of links pop up. Here are a couple. I have no idea if these work.

Thanks John! I have a Mac (forgot to mention that in my original post) and I found a solution with X LOSSLESS DECODER (http://tmkk.hp.infoseek.co.jp/xld/index_e.html).
cheers,
Tony

Ty-
Yes I opened it! It sounds a tiny bit "off", pitchwise. But it's better than lost sound altogether... probably fixable.
cheers,
Tony
